I'm disappointed too. I was excited to hear she was getting more things, until I found out it meant some of her best things (IMO) were going to retire to make room! Here's what I was disappointed with:
Blonde haired blue eyed Elizabeth and changing the illustrations in past books to reflect that. Ugh.
Retiring her school tea set. I thought this was one of her best items, from the beautiful blue pattern on the cup and saucer to the elegant wood caddy to the adorable queen cake. I was really shocked that this got retired.
Retiring the chocolate set. In the books, Felicity's family decided not to drink tea. Now the only set that can be used with her birthday treats is a TEA set. This makes no sense and is confusing.
Not bringing back some items like her school accessories (AG *used* to be about education ) and the Shrewsbury cakes set, not to mention any summer items as that "collection" consists of just an outfit now.
Making some things like the guitar (from the reports I've heard) plastic.
I am glad they brought her back to the catalog and brought back her lovely riding habit, and I do like her new yellow dress. Elizabeth was a good idea; I just wish they hadn't messed with her looks. But if I were in charge (don't I wish! ) I would change a LOT of things still.

Hello Everyone !
I posted this question originally because as I finally decided to get Felicity's rose garden dress I relised that it came with only a hair ribbon. When Felicity first came out I loved her meet outfit all of it, and now that I finally have the doll I cannot get a mob cap with a cinnamon ribbon or her coral necklace for luck I loved the meaning of this necklace from her books. All of this made me mad. Mad that a company that I have loved and admired since the age of 8 has changed so much and that I am afraid is becoming more like that B doll. I am glad that so many of you feel this way I know I am not alone. I will still love this company and most of its products I am just becoming more sceptical of its future products.

I feel so much like you! I loved AG since I was six, and just have been so sad with all the ways I see them going downhill. I decided long ago to stop collecting when I had complete collections for the dolls I already owned. All I'd buy after that was books. (It seems even those are starting to get retired! ) It's too much stress to worry about whether something will retire without warning, how to get something when it does retire without warning since ebay prices become outrageous, whether the quality will be any good, etc.
Do they really not sell Felicity's coral necklace anymore? That's just...

I will always love American Girl, and I do plan to get rest of the historical dolls, probably the other two AGTs I like too, but in the past year I have seen things that make me sad. I remember sitting with the catalouge when I was a girl and reading all the descriptions like they were part of a story, and they were! At first I didn't want to believe it, but there HAS been a significant change in the American Girl company and product. And it makes me very sad.
I think when I really started to feel this way was the past two weeks, as I've been looking at what else is out there in the way of 18" vinyl play dolls. I was disappointed to see that other companies not only are turning out the same quality product, but that they are steering clear of the B girl trends. Personally, I think the casual girl clothing Carpatina offers for American Girls are more "girlish" then alot of the AGT outfits. And I also think Life of Faith is doing a better job at American Girl's orginial mission then AG is currently doing. What a disappointment!
However, I will always be an American Girl fan! And I plan to keep buying their products as long as they continue to make items I like. But I do honestly hope that they get sight of the vision that started the whole thing again.
